A year of Wordle

A bit more than a year.

Introduction to Wordle #

Wordle is a word puzzle game in New York Times newspaper. The gameplay is stupidly simple - each day there's a new 5-letter word, and you have 6 tries to guess it. Each guess highlights the word's letters based on some rules:

There's also an optional toggle in the setting, rightfully titled "Hard mode"; each guess has to include all yellow and green letters of your previous guess.

My starter for the past year has been "horse". It's one of the most efficient ways to start new games every day - almost all letters are relatively common and aren't repeating, in the (not so) rare event that h, o, r, s, and e aren't included in the answer. Also, 2026 is the year of horse, so I'm obliged to, or something.

Is it truly efficient though?

Out of total of 399 games, starting on May 30th, 2025, only 14 resulted in a loss, making the success rate 96.49%. Not too bad!

Failed games (according to wordle.today):

With that information, you can also infer my longest streak, which lasted from July 24th, 2025 to September 26th, 2025 (64 days, or ~2 months), still unbeaten to this day.
